Excluded Complex Psychiatric Presentations
- Clients experiencing active suicidal intent
- Psychiatric Treatment for all Psychotic Disorders
- Clients experiencing an active manic episode against a background of Bipolar 1 Mood Disorder
- Clients under an active Treatment Order
- Clients presenting with an active Stimulant Use Disorder or Opioid Use Disorder. The perception of an active disorder is at the discretion of the Medical Director.
- RMC follows a stepped care clinical pathway, meaning RMC reserves the right to refer Clients on to Access Mental Health, or any relevant state acute mental health pathway. This pathway is followed if the treating Doctor, perceives that the severity level and/or risk level cannot be safely managed in a private psychiatric clinic.
- Clients presenting with active non-medicated Oppositional Defiant Disorder or Conduct Disorder. The disorder may not be formally diagnose, the perception of the Disorder is at the discretion of the Medical Director.
Age Criteria
RMC provides psychiatric services specifically for adults aged 17 to 64.
This is not a matter of preference but relates to the clinical scope of practice
and specialist training of our clinical team.
In practical terms, we are able to see patients up until their 65th birthday.
Once a patient turns 65, we are unfortunately unable to continue ongoing
psychiatric medication prescriptions.
Naturally if an appointment falls within a reasonable window of a 65th birthday
RMC will still support our Client.
We fully understand this can be frustrating, however these are regulatory medical body
regulations and are not the decisions of RMC.
